"It is my understanding," Bleys said, "from things that Dworkin told me, that two distict patterns could not exist in the same universe. Those in Rebma and Tir do not count, being but reflections of our own..." "What would happen?" I said. "I think there would be a splitting off, the founding of a new existance - somewhere." -Bleys and Corwin, 'Courts of Chaos'
Instead, he created another entire realm of existance, another complete universe with infinite shadow all its own...
Unique in structure, this fifth universe, called by Dworkin thre Plane of the Aethyr, casts four reflections from its primal pattern - one for each element - making it the most stable of all the Pattern-cast planes.
RoseAmber is a physical duplicate of the Amber of Corwin's childhood, though none of the personages from Amber have been duplicated, only the places.
While Corwin's pattern, and one would assume, the universe it cast, has only existed for some seven years, the realm of RoseAmber has a long history, dating back thousands of years by their records. It has been ruled by a Regent since the first days, as it was written that one day the rightful King would come to claim his crown.
The Paris Corwin knew and loved floats in the sky above Amber on
moonlit nights. It is not yet known whether this ethereal city of
moonlight had the same properties as the Tir in the real Amber.
Upon an island in the middle of the bay lies the fabled realm of
Avalon, once ruled by Corwin. It is said that the Seeress of Avalon
fortold the coming of RoseAmber's King. "And he shall step forth from
the grand design that lies under the stone." And indeed, Corwin
appeared at the center of the RoseAmber pattern, buried deep under the
stone of the counterpart to Kolvir.
Avalon also is the home of the Church of the Unicorn. While the
Seeress is a part of the Church, it is an autonomous position within the
Church hierarchy. Ut is she who is said to speak with the Unicorn, and
take her word to the High Priest. The true identity of the Seeress is
never known. When a seeress dies, another is chosen, giving up her past
and identity to become the mysterious prophet of the Isle. It is rumored,
though, that the Seeress has never actually died, and that it is only a
ruse to hide the fact that the prophetess is several thousand years
old.
Lying on the other side of the Dancing mountains, this close
Shadow of RoseAmber has just undergone a civil war, the former king
overthrown by a man known only as Jacob.
