Things are sparse around here because I am notoriously bad at finishing stories. I have eight billion excuses to whip out at a moment's notice, but I am working on my slacker ways. At the moment I am rewriting "Angels in Black and White," the series introductory novella. Trust me, you'll be happier in the long run. I started writing it in 1986, and finished it in 2002. And sadly, it read like it was started by a thirteen-year-old and written on and off over the span of sixteen years. I've been away from Adventurous and her crew for a few years, while trying to finish a degree I have no intention of ever using (Erika Donaldson does get her mulishness from her creator). But now that I am free of the 500 pound academic gorilla on my back , I hope to get back into the world and the characters. I'm working on a series of short character vignettes (300-500 words) to get myself back on track. We'll see how that goes. I maintain a livejournal for the series (USS Adventurous log), where I'll mainly post updates and the occasional paean (or pan) to the franchise. Feel free to engage in discussion or comment on posts there - you don't have to be a livejournal member and can comment through the anonymous comment function - though please sign your post. Aagin, welcome, and thanks for reading. -Julie Raybon, May 2005. |
